Whether you are breaking ground on a new build, opening up a fence line, or taking back a backyard that turned into a jungle, land clearing is a job for people with the right equipment and a plan. Do it wrong and you damage the trees worth keeping, compact the soil, and leave a mess.

Hayworth Tree Service clears lots and acreage across Mid-Michigan for homeowners, builders, and farmers. We can take everything down to open ground or selectively clear so your best oaks and maples stay standing. One of our customers bought a home with a completely overgrown yard — we cleared it out and she called the result phenomenal. That is the outcome we aim for every time.

What you get with Hayworth Tree Service

  • Full or selective clearing to your plan
  • Trees, brush, and undergrowth handled together
  • On-site chipping to cut down on hauling
  • Building-site, fence-line, and reclamation work

When You Need Land Clearing

New construction

A home, shop, or commercial building needs a clear, gradeable pad. We clear the footprint and access while protecting trees you want to keep.

Overgrown property

Years of neglect turn a yard into a tangle of scrub, saplings, and vines. We open it back up so you can actually use the space.

Fence and property lines

Brush and volunteer trees along a line make fencing and maintenance a headache. We clear a clean, workable edge.

Farm and field edges

Encroaching tree lines, dead windbreak trees, and overgrown ditches — we help keep working land working.

Our Land Clearing Process

  1. 01

    Walk the site with you

We flag what stays and what goes, note access and grade, and understand what the cleared land needs to become.

  2. 02

    Clear in the right order

We drop and process trees, then brush and undergrowth, working methodically so nothing damages what you are keeping.

  3. 03

    Process on site

We chip brush and cut wood on site where we can, which reduces hauling and can leave you usable mulch or firewood.

  4. 04

    Leave it ready

Stumps ground where needed, debris cleared, and the ground left in shape for grading, seeding, or the next crew.

What Affects Land Clearing Cost

Clearing is priced by the site — its size, density, and what you want left behind. We look before we quote. The main drivers:

Size and density

A quarter-acre of light brush is worlds apart from an acre of mature timber. Both the area and how thick it is matter.

Full vs. selective

Clearing everything is often faster than carefully working around trees you want to save — selective work takes more finesse.

Debris handling

Chipping on site is efficient; hauling everything away, or grinding many stumps, adds to the scope.

Terrain and access

Wet ground, slopes, and tight entry points affect what equipment we can use and how long the job takes.

Highly recommend Hayworth Tree Service. I reached out early this spring and had a response in a timely manner. Much to my surprise they contacted me and had availability the following day. The process and clean up was fantastic. The tree was very large, next to my house and had some wires to work around. Very professional service. I'd call them again for any tree service needs!

Steven and his crew took great care of me. I had some major trees along the back of my house that needed to go. Steven was great in communication all the way from estimates to scheduling and completion. His quote beat most but I was happy to pay more than a few based on his knowledge, experience and skill.
